CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS
——
I’m a river in your storm,
You had passed me like a thought,
When you filled me with your form,
Did just one of us get caught?
Now I’m prodding through faces,
Replaying every clue,
These days I get high on any
Lingering trace of you
Watch me tear open the skies
For a glimpse of your rain
Every drop of your blue
Leaves a pretty, effervescent stain
I’ll find the tiniest shimmers
In the depths of my open scars,
Show you the shiniest glimmers,
A veneer of a thousand stars.
My greatest fear remains that
You’ll love me just as I do
A shiny trophy you’d obtain then
Turn away for something brand new
Still, I can’t resist like you resist me
You’ve cut through my blood and veins,
These empty bottles never fixed me,
I’m breathless from all your mundanes,
Your laugh alone can just lift me,
Vivid colours numb my brain,
But God,
When I’m wrecked from the fall,
I’m going to miss how my problems used to drip with champagne.
